MPS Chooses yieldWerx’ SPC Module to Monitor Test Operations – The yieldWerx’s SPC module along with yieldWerx’s Enterprise Module has provided MPS with an automated capability to analyze production variance. MPS engineers get alerts in real-time if the process variations are showing anomalies. These engineers can then use yieldWerx Enterprise software to compare the distribution with trend charts, slice dice and analyze the data to create a detailed action plan. Benefits include higher reliability and equipment throughput. Better customer transparency and shorter time to resolve problems.

Many MPS products use proprietary processes at their foundries who ship wafers to MPS’s Chengdu China facility for wafer sort. After sort, wafersare shipped to assembly vendors and packaged parts are returned to MPS test house or its turnkey house for final test. 20-40% annual growth in unit volumes and customer reliability and reporting requirements in consumer and automotive products initiated MPS to seek better tools to manage the process. In addition, generating quality reports for customer business reviews was needed.

In Q3 2015 MPS deployed the yieldWerx SPC module, extending their existing YieldWerx Enterprise installation, at their production (Final Test) sites. The SPC module automatically monitors process consistency across, lots, wafers machines, testers. Real-time SPC allows MPS to monitor consistency through every stage of their production cycle. Since the deployment of the SPC Module, MPS has achieved early detection and warning of bad lots prior to shipment. MPS is currently processing 200,000–300,000 dies per day, generating in excess of 6-7GB of data. This data is automatically loaded by yieldWerx in real-time, and
analyzed to detect excursions and alert stakeholders. By streamlining the process control and reporting, MPS has been able to lower defect rates and reduce machine stoppages.
